Thread: Locked phone freezes while in the pocket.

I am having interesting problem with my Touch HD. Phone is locked. After I put it in the pocket it freezes up almost all the time. Can bring it back to life only by hard reset. The same happens while in the case, but kind of less often. By less often I mean 20% of the time vs 50%. It is very consistent. Frozen phone is kind of hot. After reboot phone is locked, and I can unlock it as normal. Any thought on that?

may be you should not lock, but should switch off the screen?

I have my phone lock up with 0 minutes - e.g. almost instantly when I stop using it - and then I push the power on/off button to turn off the screen and have had not problems with it freezing up. I just push the power on/off button again and I get the pin screen, enter my pin and the phone is up and running again.

My guess therefore is there is something wrong with your software. Have you loaded any other programs that may be interfering?

I am posting this actually to find out if anyone else got the same problem. Because if not, I should be a hardware issue. So I need to send this phone for repair. Little bit more about this problem.
It really does not matter if I lock the phone or not. It would eventually freeze in the pocket. I am trying to find out why and how. Still no luck. My guess is that even when it is locked phone would freeze if volume or power buttons are pressed for a long time. Other reason might be temperature? But my body temperature is quite standard for human, so it should not be an issue. No software is installed. It started doing it right after a bought it. This is what I have in device information:

switched on lock feature and encountered the same problem.
why?
because any incoming sms turns on screen backlight and in the pocket htc begins to do random things for touchscreen is on too.

moreover. now it does not turn off even when i press upper button.

with souch an attitude of htc staff (no reply for almost a week) to end users with such badly projected ergonomics of the device, i will strongly consider returning to my soneric w890: at least it's excellent PHONE.

Same issue - random freeze - not related to body temp. seen freeze on the table.

I sent the phone to authorized service center and they replaced the mother board - it works fine since then
