Thread: Text messages wont work!

can someone help me with text messages?

i am on the att/cingular network currently. when i try to send a txt message it says

"your text message cannot be sent. be certain that your service center address is correct in settings and then try sending the message again"

ok so i go to start > settings > phone > services tab
and try to get settings for voicemail and text messages and i get this error

"cannot read settings from the network. try viewing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again"

this never happened on my old eten x650 phone (let alone my regular, non PDA, non windows mobile phones)! why is this happening now? why is this touch HD different? thanks!

Hi there. Im using ATT/Cingular too... I got no problem with text messaging. Go to Settings\Connections Tab then Tap to Advance Network then go to SMS Service. Make sure it is set to GSM preferred. After that try to soft reset then check.

I guess you should try the custom ROM. You will definitely love it and and you will LOVE your Touch HD MORE!

haha im so leery of changing the rom on my device. i never really liked modding my phone that way (modding the case and outside stuff is cool though)

selecting that setting still doesnt work for me. i have no idea what can be causing this! its not like the device hangs either when i press send (which would give me feedback that its trying to connect to send). it gives the messge the millisecond after i hit send

Hmmm... Have you tried to hard reset and see if it will fix the problem? Make sure you back up your data first.

yea hard resetted for the latest rom updated.

can you let me know your settings? as it makes no sense that yours would work and mine wouldnt since we are on the same network and even in the same state!!!!...Thanks! im sure my friends think im ignoring them when i cant send replies back via sms haha.

if you open "messaging" > click on SMS/MMS > menu > MMS Options > servers tab > at&t mms (or whatever you have)...

Can you check your "text messages center:" +1(312)314-9810 Phone>Settings>Services Tab then tap to Voicemail and text messages then "Get Settings"

no worries i dont browse often either. so the thing is when click through what u said it gives me an error that it cannot read settings from the network at the moment

Maybe they have fix for your SMS problem.
