Default How much do you love your HD?

this forum seems to be just a help desk for people having trouble...why has it got to be that way (i myself am a culprit!)? just look at all the topics of people asking for help. so lets start a new thread, say what you love about your hd...and perhaps why its the ultimate iphone killer!

for me the hd is the total iphone killer (even better if i could afford a data plan) and here are my 3 top reasons:
-love the photo album software, as a photographer i love flipping through images on this big screen and show off to my clients (theyll see the slick device too!)
-i love removable batteries. iphone dont got that. too bad
-i LOVE its 5mp camera. its the best cameraphone i have ever had so far. in good conditions it takes some very lovely images even if its a cameraphone

Well the phone is certainly a mixed bag, but in my opinion, while it is very very good, it is far from the finished article.
I happen to own a touch HD and im baffled by its hot & cold approach to the set up of the phone.
What i mean by this is that in comparison to the iPhone it just doesnt deliver the consistency across the board to make this an absolute world breaker of a phone.
The games, the email system, weather app, stock apps are superb, its synchronisation options are amazingly good and connecting it to your computer to do a whole range of tasks, like synchronising it with your outlook contacts, pull emails and synchronise music, and other personal files really set it apart from other phones in terms of interoperability and customisation of information sharing between the device and the PC. As we all know the packages and the support of these types of applications are amazing and very easy to use leaving the users with a great deal of satisfaction through ease of operation.
The fact that the same cable that transfers data can also charge your phone is also a huge benefit and is a trick missed on many phones still out on the market. The transfer speeds are relatively decent and the usability with windows media player to synchronise songs and create playlists is also very helpful.
Bearing how they have quite literally nailed so many aspects of this phone you are then introduced to the half assed features of the phone.
It is literally let down in a big way by the sluggish performance of the camera, if the camera is not in perfect conditions and the camera not held perfectly still the quality of pictures produced are quite pitiful, its also let down by the fact it has no flash. So for any users who wanted to use it as an interim camera on nights out will be severely disappointed, for a 5 megapixel camera, its evident failings detract from what should have been a good feature. Also with the media player, puzzlingly this has both windows media player, albeit a rather limited version, and an inbuilt music player, love it or hate it windows media player really does have most of the good features you would require of a media player. However for music it prefers to use the inbuilt version which is, well its rather atrocious, a large library of songs will take a while to update / refresh on it meaning that in most occasions, those who have lots of music will not be able to play it immediately because of the way it builds the library, its also rather sluggish and the interface to do 'on the hop' tasks like making a random playlist is really quite cumbersome. Now, whats puzzling about this arrangement is as discussed within the synchronisation earlier in this post you use windows media player to synchronise and handle media files between the computer and the device, it would have made a much more logical arrangement for the phone to use a better version of windows media player by default to handle songs on the device. Me as an avid music fan was severely let down by the way this handles music and video (which you actually have to view using windows media player) wheres the logic, also the loudspeaker is rubbish, and anything coming through it on half volume or more sounds similar to listening to announcements on the london underground *transalation, its inaudible through rubbish quality*.
Also, a big issue is the processor, whilst many claim it is powerful it really isnt, the phone is painfully slow in certain areas and the phone really does struggle when asked to display videos in high quality quite frequently jumping and / or losing sync between voice and video. Also if you are using the phone and somebody calls, it takes around 3 - 5 seconds to properly display the call screen to the user. In short the processor simply is not good enough.
So if you are literally looking for an all round phone that does the staples like nail music, camera and all big features this phone probably isnt really for you because of its inconsistency in its delivery. However, if you are a business oriented user with a higher focus on writing emails, wifi interoperability, bluetooth ease of use and other business related tasks you will be delighted with this arrangement.
Its a shame really, because the windows 6.1 platform, while restrictive and a little slow is actually a rather robust and versatile operating system which allows the users to do almost anything with relative ease.
Im hoping that when they release the HTC touch HD version 2 with the new windows 6.5 platform that they willd deliver on all the lacking features and deliver an all round phone that will truly deliver what this phone is already capable of, and that is a world leading phone in every aspect of its operation.

I pretty much agree with most of what you say but I'm really not bothered with the camera, I've taken to carrying my little 7 megapixel digital camera with me so I'm never looking to incorporate that on a phone. The MP3 on the TouchFlo is ATTROCIOUS. I actually gave away my iPod when I bought the HTC (in full retail price may I add... not on a contract) so I was really looking forward to a powerful mp3 player and well, it doesn't deliver. I've emailed HTC support at least 15 times with suggestions for much needed bug fixes but unfortunately this phone has already been put on the side.

The TouchFlo looks good but it's a big bug in need of a fix urgently!

I really like the phone, it's a really powerful small laptop... but it's let down by HTC support and the fact that HTC have a new phone out every month (almost...)

I love it a bit less now that as a Mac user I can't do the ROM Upgrade... it's unbelievable. I posted this on another thread here, it's like HTC are saying "go buy an iPhone"...

I not saying in the dark. indoor photos and a bit of cloud outside make very poor shots. and will take ages to shoot.

Luckily I didn't buy for the cam, but I'd sympathise with anyone who was suckered by htc marketing to "feature" 5 mp camera.
Especially if you've owned an older n series or even 3.2 se's.
    Watching multimedia- brilliant.
Creating it? Like I said its rubbish.

    Very happy with it btw..

I love it too, don't get me wrong. It's just frustrating that there's no support for it at all.
Yes, it's a gorgeous sexy phone.
