(UK) Orange Maps will not 1st run after install.
Hi Guys and Girls
1st of all I have done a quick search to see if this has been answered already but I cannot seem to find any information, I too hate when someone new joins a forum and their 1st post happens to be the most answered question
.
I am having a problem getting Orange Maps to complete or 1st run after a successful initial install. I have tried customer services and although the guy at the other was great, even gave me £10 credit because he couldn't help but ultimately I still have the problem. I am trying to get this to work over that of installing TomTom or Garmin as its free with the phone and I have a data package as well.
http://smallisbeautiful.net/orangemaps/index.html
I have followed the PDF file here and the problem I am having is very similar as to the problem listed in the FAQ but not the same.
The error message I receive is as follows:Q. Orange Maps is already installed on my device but I cannot access it. I am getting this error message during application launch: 'Sorry we cannot access Orange Maps at the moment. Please try again later to access your free trial'
A. This message means there has been an error when identifying your mobile number for activation of the trial period. This may just be a temporary problem, so please try again later. If the problem persists, the data connection on your phone may be set up incorrectly. To use Orange Maps, your phone should be set up to use "Orange Internet" for data connections. Please consult your phone's manual for instructions on how to change your data settings, or contact Orange customer service for further assistance on 150 (pay monthly) or 450 (pay as you go).
I made sure I had a data connection open before starting the install, I have even added a audio event when the phone connects on a data session (NOT WIFI, just data HSDPA). I have even had the situation where the secondary installation waits for a data connection to connect before continuing since I get the ping sound then installation carries on. But still results in fail.Sorry, unable to complete installation. Please check your network coverage and try again. If problem persists, please call your Orange Customer services.
Any ideas please I am drawing a blank.
Many thanks

I'm not sure that this will help at all bu on your advice I downloaded and installed orange maps on both phones. Both work perfectly. Can you try a fresh install? Did you install a demo or something as therewere a couple of options.
New to the HTC scene, be gentle with me.

Re: (UK) Orange Maps will not 1st run after install.
Ah nuts I hate you now!! :|
There are only two versions the free for all as long as you are on a animal 30/35/40 package and the Pro version which is free for 1 week then you are paying £5 per month. Which version did you download?
Maybe something is wrong with my phone and I should see about getting it replaced maybe, I hope not because I have gone through my contacts over 3 nights adding lots of details to many contacts anyway I hope not its not even a week old yet.
Many Thanks

I downloaded the NON pro version. Good luck.
Maybe we need to help each other through this, not much info from elsewhere. :shock:New to the HTC scene, be gentle with me.

Orange Maps wouldn't run after the install on my Touch HD, I just turned it off and on again and it works fine now! Give it a go!
