Thread: Cant create two email account

Just bought a HTC touch HD. I cant create 2 hotmail account. When i try to create the 2nd one it direct me to windows live...plese help

You cannot create two Hotmail accounts through the built-in Windows Live, but there is a workaround: setup your 2nd account manually using the free POP3 server settings mentioned here:

So where exactly on my HTC do you set these, as I cant find where to set the pop settings; I only ever seem to get prompted to enter email address and password?
the options are 'create new account' but that only lets you put in email address/password then does nothing as you already have a hotmail account set up ?!

This really should be so much easier than it is; everyone has more than one hotmail account (dont they !!)

You are already at the right place. However, as you have found out, if you enter your Hotmail address to create a new account it will not proceed. The trick is to enter a dummy email address (an incomplete hotmail domain will also work, e.g., enter "username@hotmail") and amend it back to the correct address afterwards.

Nope; takes me to opera already logged in as something i tried to set up ages ago !! Now I need to find this setting and delete it !

It still doesnt show anything in the Options accoutn list; I only have:
sms/mms
outlook email
hotmail
New Account...

It never seems to add another one in here to amend?

what I was trying to do was use messenger with a different hotmail account to that i has set up. It looks liek you have to set up 2 email accounts and im hoping it has the ability to switch between the 2. although im not seeing much sign of this so far!

No what? Did you read what I wrote exactly?

REPEAT: click "new account", setup a second hotmail account using dummy email address. DO NOT USE HOTMAIL ADDRESS (@hotmail.com, @live.com, etc.) TO SETUP POP3 ACCESS. Change it to the real Hotmail address when finished by editing the account settings - the only thing you cannot change is the account's label or name (re BOLD names in image below)

Here's my email setup. The "Hotmail" account is setup by Windows Live application. The 2nd Hotmail address (different from the former) is the POP3 access to another hotmail account.




However, you cannot logon to a 2nd messenger account without removing your Windows Live setup.

Its never quite that simple !
After much messing about losing my existing hotmail setup, I now seem to have my original hotmail back and the messenger loggin into the new hotmail account without a email account showing up in the email home page. No idea how I got it to do this, but its doing what I need for now.

Thanks for the help by the way. Its a shame microsoft doesnt make it easier and let the interface just do what we needed , like just create any number of internet/hotmail accounts and or messenger accounts without trying to be clever and tie them together !!
