Default HTC Touch HD Screen Problem

    Hey guys,

Well I have had my HTC Touch HD for a few month's not and I have just noticed something.

I have what looks like an oil mark on my screen, but it does not wipe off and it seems to be just underneath the screen - like liquid.

You only notice this when the phone screen light is off, when its on you dont.

Any ideas on what it could be?

*Ill try and put up a picture later on today

I believe it has something to do with your phone getting wet at one point or another. The same thing happened to my phone. Check the water damage indicator behind your battery in the lower right hand corner. It happened to mine after it got wet. Everything works fine but I have that oily appearance when the screen is off.

Is the water inductor actually located on the battery itself? if so, then mine has red lines - it has only ever gotten wet once, and that was a few rain drops on the screen itself,.

This may not be the same for you but I had a dodgy screen protector installed for a while that gave that oil pattern appearance when my display was off.

I replaced with a different brand screen protector and the oil like pattern was gone.

I know exactly what you're having.

I had a Palm Treo Pro with the identical problem. It was in my pocket, it never got wet or smashed, and I kept it isolated from other objects while it was in my pocket (I have a phobia so I throw my keys in the other pockets) and it still happened. There was no rhyme or reason. Interestingly, the problem was only evident under fluorescent lighting, like at work or when i was working under my desk lamp with the newer bulbs. It could not be seen under the older lighting. FYI for those that don't know, HTC manufactured the palm treo pro. Another helpful link is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/arch.../t-475294.html If you scroll down you begin to realize most of these people with HTC phones had the same problem. I've had numerous phones over the years from different manufacturers. I never had this problem. The defect is attributable to the top screen, not the LCD itself. I thought HTC was a reputable company, but apparently they refuse to acknowledge this is their fault or address, and with that I will never buy another HTC phone for fear of this happening to me again.

if you are speaking of the perfect square in the center of the screen that resembles oil/water mixture, it isn't usually caused by liquid damage. That is a screen malfunction. Something to do with the layering of the screen coming apart. It is a bit of a nuisance but does not cause any harm to the phone.
