Thread: Can not send sms

Hi Guys...

I have and HTC Fuze, unlocked .... I bought it in the U.S but I am using it in Iceland... I did not notice until recently that I was unable to send SMS messages. I can receive SMS messages without a problem. Everything else seems to work perfectly (Voice Calls, 3G, MMS, Outlook Sync, Internet, etc)

It seems the settings for the Message Center from my mobile carrier are incorrect... I tried a different sim card from a different mobile carrier here in Iceland and it worked. But my provider (Vodafone Iceland) does not work.

I even took it to the local HTC repair shop and they were unable to fix it. I have already tried hard resetting the device and it did not work.

I don;t want to give up on the phone, anyone has any suggestions... other than changing mobile carriers?

Did you at least present this question to Vodaphone? SMS programming is embedded on the SIM card. If there is a problem with sending SMS there may be a problem with your SIM card. If you place the SIM into another device, is it functional?

It's also possible that this is a Registry problem. WM devices have the ability to override the SMS programming contained on the SIM. Using a regeditor, go to HKLM\Drivers\Builtin\RIL & ensure that the "EnableSmspFromSim" key is set to "1". You may also want to do a search thru the registry for all SMS settings & ensure that there is nothing preventing it from sending.

Yes, I spoke to Vodafone Iceland and they were at a loss... that is why I took it to an Htc authorized repair shop and they too could not fix it...

What I did yesterday was to installed a cooked ROM with winmo 6.5 and it is all working now, except there is a problem with the default mms send limit ... but I already found a solution for that...

Glad you got it fixed, but curious why it screwed up on a stock ROM. I know there are a couple .HTM files that are required for SMS to work, but these files are locked on a Stock ROM & cannot be deleted. It's even more odd that the problem did not exist with a different SIM.
Oh well, another stumper.
