I've had the HTC touch and other HTC's before the Touch (even while Audiovox) and all's been well. I got a hold of a Samsung Omnia and it's driving me mad.
I get sent to text various emails each day. On the HTC's I've had, the long texts are properly broken into multiple messages. On the email messages to text, the fist 140 characters came through, which was fine by me. The email to text was an automatic way to know I had some email from my business, so I could check to see if I needed to follow up in a hurry.
On the Samsung, the first 140 Characters came through, then I got another 2 or 3 texts with garbled, random stuff. So then if i got 10 emails X 3 messages each that's 30 texts. Because the texts are garbled, the second and third texts are also garbled as to who they are from, so it gets confusing keeping track of things. Tested the Omnia 2 today at the cell store and that sucker is even worse. Sent an email to text to their demo phone and it wanted to get all parts of the email into text. We finally removed the battery at the 30 text mark, that is from the same email.
I'm looking at the HTC Pro as I'm still wanting to use Windows Mobile, I'm also getting old, prefer sticks to type with (old habits die hard)
Can you let me know what happens in the Pro/Fuze or any other HTC, the most recent ones, sans Android, if you send a lengthy email to text. Will it just do the first 140 or so characters or split it into multiple texts? The clerk at the Cell store a while back had an HTC (don't know the model) from the UK that also could not deal with lengthy emails to text.
Looking forward to your responses. Please state your phone and carrier.
Thanks a bunch.
