    Default TomTom Navigator 7

Hi, has anyone managed to get TomTom Navigator 7 on micro-SD to work on a Touch Pro 2. I get "Your device is not compatible with this version of TomTom NAVIGATOR!" as an error message and TomTom support were no help.

    Yes, I have a TP2 with TTNavigator 7 [version 7.910 (9185)] Maps Western_Central_Europe v 815.2023

    it works fine.

But, my previous TTNavigator 6 worked fine on the TP but not on the TP2. So I had to buy an upgrade to V7.
Strangley enough TTNavigator6 also showed itself as Navigator 7, so be aware you have the actual Navigator 7 version. You can look it up by pressing in the lower right corner of the Navigator screen [satelite icons] -then you can see wich version is installed.

    greetings from the Netherlands.

    Bert

    Default TomTom Navigator 7

    Hello,

I'm a new user of HTC Touch Pro2 (Vodafone Rom) and have a friend with the same handset but the diference is that his device got HTC Rom.
We realize the same problem when instaling TomTom on this new device ... when rebooting a messege appears: "Bttray ce is not a valid program".
We been trying to install a few of versions but I have just noticed that the new device is a WVGA.

I have this two instalations of TomTom and a few others that are runnig very well on my HTC Trion (O2 Rom)

    TT7 910.9185 QVGA black
    TT Nav 7.450.9028 VGA black

Could someone please give us some help with this issue.
    Thanks in advance,

I have got mine working with tt7 7,45, but I am still using version 6 maps (as I paid for these on my tytn2) needs a bit of fiddling the satelites do not show up, but it works, you will also need to rename some bt files I think, as I had an issue with this, apparently the tp2 bluetooth is a newer version that TT ? and tt overwrites these.

I have purchased an HTP2 from Telus (T7379) n still waiting to unlock it (can someone unlock this model?)
But i was able to install tomtom navigator 7.450.9028 and activate the USA_and_Canada_720.1803 maps
More TomTom features were activated on the HTP2 (compared to my old eten x800), the i was able to get more satellite signals (8-10 inside my room) and the display is better.
The only downside is that the BTTRACE ERROR will still be displayed after a soft reset.

First off thanks to redbandana for extracting this, Rab for making this compatible with most PPCs, matmaneyre for the instructions and PPCwarez.

here are some instructions (that i customed slightly for better comprehension) from a bittorrent download i got 1 year ago:
    -------------------------------
    1. Copy TomTom_Navigator_7.450.9028_repack1.cab onto your PPC and run it to install it.
    2. Copy USA_and_Canada_720.1803 and voices to the root directory of your SD Card
    3. Search on the PPC for the file "ttnavigator.bif" then open with notepad, look for the DeviceUniqueID.

    4. Copy USA_and_Canada-14.meta into folder tt7-stuff
    5. Open a command prompt (run->cmd) and navigate to tt7-stuff
    6. In the command prompt type:
tt7_keygen.exe "path to *.meta file" "DeviceUniqueID" (NO SPACES IN THE DeviceUniqueID!)

    Example:
    tt7_keygen.exe "C:\tt7\tt7-stuff" "DeviceUniqueID"
If successful it should say "OK" and create USA_and_Canada-14.meta.dct inside tt7-stuff

    7.Now copy USA_and_Canada-14.meta and USA_and_Canada-14.meta.dct from tt7-stuff into USA_and_Canada_720.1803 overwriting existing files.
    ---------------------------------------------

You may try a bittorrent search with "Tomtom7USA_and_Canada_720.1803" for the kegen + US-canada maps + tomtom nav7

    Cheers,

    CTP

    Hi

Could someone please help me with my TTN7 issues?

After installing the purchased TTN7 v7.910 (9190) for my HTC touch HD I tried to install it on my new HTC TP2. First problem I got was that the TTN7 SW I had could not be recognised on my devise. After I installed the following cab "ttn7.915.9196.vga_black.cab" on my storrage card I got TTN7 started but when I'm coming to the stage to activate my Scandinavia map v815.2024 I get the error message that the activation code is incorrect. I have exactly the same map istalled on my HTC Touch HD so I know that the SW and activation code works on that unit but I'm not able to activate th maps on the TP2. I have tried to reinstall the TTN7 cab file from Rapidshare over again but without luck.

Thanks a lot for any advice that could help me!

Thanks!!!! This worked on my Verizon TP2. Used Resco File Explorer to rename both files to .bak , appears that they were actually copied but upon reboot, Bluetooth now works!!! Now in my windows dir. I have the original filenames plus the .bak ones but I'm guessing that in the FAT, they are renamed so even though they are still present in the 'ROM', the FAT doesn't actually point to them anymore. Very glad to have my bluetooth working again!!!!!!!

Think you can forget relying on Tom Tom. I have struggled with this same dilemma for 2-3 weeks. I found the following (this may be a bit long but has most of the answers). I have also posted same info on the Vodafone website TP2 blog. I have a TP2 bot from Vodafone UK. If you have an unlocked TP2 then you cld get most of the software update I mention below from the HTC website instead of Vodafone. in my case the phone is locked so I cannot down load software off the HTC site :

Anyway, for yr benefit and anybody else reading this and finding themselves in the same quandary these are my comments on what I found for the TP2:

    1. Still have no way of doing a backup in the absence of the Sprite software. When I called Vodafone they appeared unaware of the licence problems with Sprite or even the doubt about their continued existence. Vodafone still owe me a reply on this.

    2. As I mention below (4) it is not poss to download software off the HTC website for an HTC bought from Vodafone. I found the new ROM & WinMob 6.5 upgrade on the Vodafone website (think you find similar on the HTC website) as one downloadable file and hv installed it. All OK. It now shows

    a. Win Mob 6.5 Professional [It used to be WinMob 6.1]

    b. ROM 1.86.161.0 (67102) WWE. [ it used to be 1.14.161.6 (50207) WWE]

    3. No joy from Tom Tom. They cannot even tell me when the Touch Pro 2 might be added to their list, if ever! Meanwhile they do not support the TP2 for any of their software, will not give a free trial to check it out and will not give you yr money back if it does not work.

    4. HTC are suggesting to use CoPilot software. There is a free 15 day trial on their website at http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNe ... ews_id=185 but as usual at STEP 1 after entering my S/N it tells me “Sorry this software is not suitable for you device” but now I know that what this really means is that I must refer myself to Vodafone and not to HTC.

    5. The Vodafone website is interesting for the debate of which choice of satnav to use. In the Vodafone blogs you will find things such as:

    a. that TT Nav7 works . http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=13032

    b. another guy said that it worked with difficulty but he eventually gave up and installed Copilot8 instead. He reckons CoPilot is better than TT. http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?s ... ntry237983

    c. various others all say that CoPilot 8 is better ,and about half the price at £26 for UK maps only or £60 including Europe. One or two saying they now trying to get their money back from Tom Tom (note that TT Nav 7 costs £90 for maps of whole of Europe). I have all these maps already for TT Nav6 but TT tell me that these may not work well with Nav7 software and that I need new maps anyway, even if I were to take the risk upon myselfand try out their Nav7 on the TP2.

    d. From the Vodafone website there is a LINK thru to http://blog.daveburrows.com/2009/10/04/ ... eo-review/ which compares CoPilot 8 with TT Nav 7 and he is strongly in favour of CoPilot 8 and he shows a video of all its characteristics. Or another good review at http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/09/26 ... copilot_8/

    e. Why is Vodafone not offering a free 15 day trial like HTC?

    6. In any event I have decided. No more searching for me. It works on the TP2 so I hv bought the CoPilot 8. (TT just lost another customer). Note that the Copilot website only mentions it being compatible up to WinMob6.1. As mentioned above I am now on WinMob6.5 and it works fine. (I hve no idea if it will also work on the older TP2 ROM ver, see 2b above but not that this is the Vodafone ROM ver, not HTC ver).

In preparation for all the above I had already bot a 16GB microSD which I understand is the max that the TP2 can use. Shops in UK sell them at about£75 but you can get one online at £45 (an original Sandisk, not some black market product).

Well that is it. Copilot works fine. Even has a few more tricks than my old TT Nav6 such as automatic day/night screen change, customisable advance warnings of upcoming events (turns, speed cams, etc), but check them for yrself out at http://alk.eu.com/copilot/. Warning: the download file is large for Europe, almost 2GB so for me it took about 7hrs to download so plan to do it overnight. The N American maps (1.14GB for an extra £21) take about 3hrs on my same broadband speed. Finally if you decide on Copilot then the user/installation guide can be found at http://guide.copilotlive.net/doku.php.

Just to be clear, I have absolutely no interest and no shares in Copilot, did not get anything free from them. Am just a bit fed up with the way I was treated by Tom Tom. It wld appear TT have not reaised that a single unit like a good phone with fast procesor, plenty of memory and excellent screen is all one needs. For me, a stand alone piece of SatNav kit is something in the past, TT do not appear to realise that.

I will also post a short comment on the other thread concerning CoPilot since it works fine on Winob 6.5.
